Thyme for Tea

Thyme for Tea!

It’s that ‘thyme’ of year again when we throw ourselves into everything horticultural and when Sperrins Gateway Landscape Partnership begin to offer amazing FREE courses at the Polytunnel in Draperstown!

This season we are offering three Saturday workshops to anyone who has an interest in growing, propagating or finding out more about traditional uses of herbs.

These workshops for beginners will run on three consecutive Saturdays.

To be held in the Polytunnel on the Back Road in Draperstown

Times: 10am – 11.30am

Saturday 21st June

Saturday 28th June & Saturday 5th July

Horticulture Tutor Caroline Lennon will begin these workshops by talking through the various stages of growing and nurturing your plant whilst demonstrating traditional uses as well as the heritage values of a wide range of herbs.

Over the three workshops Caroline will discuss how to identify herbs, their habitat and the techniques needed for growing successful plants.

You will have the chance to learn how to grow and keep herbs in containers whilst observing various traditional methods of storing herbs such as the bunching technique, rack drying, oven drying and freezing herbs.

The finale of the workshops will see Caroline demonstrate the art of herbal tea making, mixing and brewing your very own tea from the garden is something that you’ll be encouraged to try.

These workshops are sure to quench your thirst for knowledge and techniques. To book your place, please contact Helen on: 028 7962 8750. Places are limited so we will be operating a first come first served system.
