Native Species - Red Grouse

To increase the Irish red grouse population numbers by enhancing their habitat through leveling old peat spoil heads and reseeding heather over barren machine turf areas.

This will provide benefits for all sorts of wildlife through improving the heather environment as well as improving the sustainability for Irish red grouse. People  will be able to appreciate the improved biodiversity, with the project increasing awareness and education through the local primary schools.

The project is part funded by SWARD (South West Action for Rural Development), local delivery agent for Axis 3 of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2007 – 2013 by the European Union and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
